Election Day! Phooeey!!
It was 1998 or 97? I never got to remember that day but I still remember what happened. I, like any law-abiding citizen of the Philippines, registered myself as a voter at my current barangay(locality where my address is currently located). When the date came up and it was time to vote, me and my cousins went to our respective voting precincts to look for our names at the Official Voters list and also to know where our room assignments were. We reached the gate, I still remember the name of the school, it was Benitez elementary school(because I was a Makati resident). It was my turn to look for my name on the Voters list. I turned to the page where surnames started with N, to my surprise, it was my surname that I found, so slowly looked at the first name to check whether it was mine. Unfortunately the name wasn’t mine. It was another’s. I went on complaining to the one in front of me. I inquired why there was no trace of my name. The name I saw was non-existent. It didn’t even resembled my aunts’ names. Sad to say, up to now this is still happening. Since then(1997 or 98), I hadn’t tried voting. The ones responsible doesn’t believe in karma. History repeats itself(you may call it a vicious cycle).
